Pack Expo 2019: Retail-Ready Corrugated Speeds Delivery of Products


(upbeat music) – Corrugated packaging
is a very cost effective structural material
that’s readily available. So it’s no surprise that it’s one of the most suitable packaging materials for transport of products
from the manufacturer to the end retailers. Retail ready packaging for food products has been growing at an incredible
pace over recent years. And it’s mostly due to the large retailers that are shifting towards that. So they’re getting away from
maybe loose shelf stock items that require a lot of labor
to stock in the store. The second thing for shelf ready packaging is the ease of turning your inventory. (upbeat music) So there’s a lot of digital print capacity that is at corrugated suppliers, this allows producers to easily have labeled shelf-ready
packages for their products with specific colors,
brands, and call outs for the food products. What used to take weeks, now takes days. So what retailers are really looking to do is more product at the store level. So having a great looking presentation is of course one of the
main concerns that they have or one of the main goals. So I think a lot of the trends again are avoid the clutter on the shelf, provide ease or clarity of
flavor for the consumers so they can quickly select what they need, make their purchase and move on. (upbeat music) So over the last few years,
we’ve really been focused on technology that enables the producers to quickly change between
shelf ready, brown box, and club store formats. In order to facilitate a
lot of that development we invested in our own package lab and packaging engineering staff, where we’re able to quickly create designs that we can test on our machinery and also put in front of
the consumers quickly. We try to understand all of that, and help these suppliers very quickly move from concept to something
that’s production ready. Not only for something that
looks good on the shelf, but something that’s practical to produce on automated packaging line. Our focus is always on making the most efficient package possible. To give not only a very sustainable, but also very cost effective package. (upbeat music)
