Listening to Baby’s Heartbeat at Home!!! 13 weeks pregnant w/ home fetal doppler

– What’s that?
(mouth farting) (dramatic music) Good morning, everyone! Have you ever had one of those days where you just could not get out of bed? Like no matter what you
try, you just can’t seem to bring yourself to get out
of your bed in the morning? That was me this morning, and so we tried a little experiment. I have been making pancakes with the kids pretty much every morning lately, and today, we’re seeing if
they can do it on their own. How’s it been going?
– Good. – [Chris] Do you have pancakes yet? – Yeah. – [Chris] You have them? You made pancakes? – Nope, almost. We have the mix all ready. – Just a little bit of a mess in here. Nothing spilled, so that’s good. These are pumpkin pancakes? Not bad for no supervision whatsoever. Pretty good. Excited? The kids also found sweet
potato bisque in the cupboard, and we had like six jars of it, and it all expires today, so– – [Bailey] Tomorrow! – Tomorrow, so today
they’re trying to eat it, and so they made a bunch of bowls of soup. Hopefully they eat that. Parker has preschool today,
and one of the things that they’re doing is shoeboxes. You’ve seen us do shoeboxes before. Usually they’re gifts for little kids. These ones are actually for people who are in the military overseas. We made two of them up, and
it’s got a bunch of stuff in it, like toothbrushes, American snacks… – What’s that?
(mouth farting) – Is that your impression of an elephant? – Mmhmm. (mouth farting) – Okay, and my lens is
now covered in spit. Jessica’s still on modified bed rest. So it’s not bed rest, bed rest, but it’s like she can’t
get up and do a whole lot. So I will be going to
Parker’s preschool today, and it’s been a lot of me at classes where I’m the only dude. But it’s really cool getting a sneak peak of what these classes are like,
what the kids are learning. I’ve been having a lot of fun
with it, so it’s been good. Look at these pancakes. Professional. As he looks lovingly at the pancakes, Jacob’s mind began to wander. “Where did Daddy put
those chocolate chips? “Maybe I could put them into a pancake. “Do they need blueberries? “Will I eat these with a fork or my hand?” These are the thoughts that
went through Jacob’s mind as he pat the pancakes gently. We made it to preschool. Parker, you ready to learn? Yeah? Jacob, you ready to learn? Bailey’s not feeling so well. She’s got like, a tummy ache, so she’s going to stay home
and do schoolwork from home. Jacob doesn’t have a class with a teacher. He has a room that’s sort of like, it’s kinda like daycare, but they are doing homeschool work. He’s got workbooks that
he’s going to work on. What kind of workbooks
are you working on, math? (Jacob mumbling) What? – Yeah.
– Math. – [Class] I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. (band music) – [Parker] My book? – [Chris] What? – This my book? – [Chris] It’s a book for the soldier. What are you doing? – Drawing a hat. – Drawing a hat? Today was not a normal day for us. Usually they have this time where all the women leave and they fellowship with each other, and so I brought I guitar. I was planning on sitting in
my car and playing guitar, but we ended up doing crafts
to send those boxes overseas to the troops. How was class for you today, Parker? – Fun. – [Chris] Was it a little
different than you normally do? – Mmhmm. – [Chris] Do you think they’re
going to like your box? – Yup. – Do you think they’re going to like the little book that you made? We found out today that the
boxes are going to troops in the Philippines and they are
actually construction troops that are building stuff for humanitarian reasons. There’s not a conflict
over there right now that they’re dealing with,
so what they are doing is helping to rebuild the area and help people that are in need. So that’s pretty cool. (relaxing music) (laughing) – Whenever I hold her, I feel like all my troubles have gone away. And when I hold babies
and other animals too. – [Chris] What troubles do you have? – Nothing. (laughs) – [Chris] This little guinea
pig gets a lot of love, huh? – I love her. – [Chris] How are you feeling? You weren’t feeling
very well this morning. – Still feeling a little sick, but since my friends came over,
I’m feeling a little better. – [Chris] What kind of sick do you feel? – Tummy hurting, headache,
sore throat, runny nose. She’s giving me kisses. She’s a goofball. – Jessica’s friend Katie, who set up the awesome bed rest situation that we’ve got going on up in our bedroom, her kids are doing something tonight. So she was free, and she asked Jessica to go out with her to dinner. So they went out to dinner,
which leaves me with this guy. – Hello. – [Chris] This guy. – Hello. – And this gal. (giggling) And we gotta figure out what
we’re going to do for dinner. – I want sushi! – I think I want sushi too. We’re sitting at the
rotating sushi bar today, and that means Parker
can’t be in a high chair, which is a really good
way to control a kid. So, we’ll see what happens. (dance music) I ordered something crazy. That’s all sashimi. The kids told me they were hungry though, so hopefully it works out. You’re such a little,
tiny baby in that picture. Still wearing pajamas though. You see the picture? – Uh huh. – And you so little? – Now why are we watching that? – We’re all just saying hi. We’re just smiling. Sushi was a lot of fun. The kids are now upstairs asleep. Jessica’s still out with her friend, and eventually she’ll come home and I’ll check in with her. Until then, I think I’m going to edit. Jessica just came home, and apparently she had ordered this online. It’s like an at-home doppler. So we’ll be able to hear
the baby at some point. Right now is a little early,
so it probably won’t work. But we’re gonna try. So we’re gonna try it out right now. – Also which we said,
we have never done this on our own before. We don’t know what we’re doing one bit. So we’ll see, we’ll see if we can, and I’ve also always been really
nervous to do this at home, cause if you can’t hear something, but then I also heard
people saying in reviews that you can also sometimes
here the baby’s movements. So I don’t know.
– How do you know if it’s the baby’s
movements or your movements? – I’m not gonna move. I’m gonna be very still. – No, I mean like, your
internal movements. – [Jessica] I don’t
have internal movements! – Do you want to hold
the camera, and I’ll… – [Jessica] I don’t know,
how are we going to do this? – We gotta figure this out. Here, hold this camera. – Our bed is a mess right
now, I should warn you. – [Chris] Bailey’s been sewing– – Can you see this? Bailey and I spent like three hours this morning doing sewing school. The main thing that she worked
on was making her own bobbin. So we set up her sewing kit. So Bailey made all these cardboard pieces and we cut slits into them to wrap up all her thread so it doesn’t get tangled. It was really, really
a delightful morning, and we just did it all in bed, so it was kinda a mess. Okay, Christopher
Ballinger, you’re in charge of making sure my lady bits aren’t exposed when I’m positioning the camera. Sorry, I’m not very good at doing this. I’ve got this dangly here, let me see if I can
put it around my wrist. So you guys know,
Christopher just opted out of reading the instructions,
which I feel like when you’re detecting a heartbeat or not, maybe you should know
so you don’t get worried about anything in case you– – [Chris] I’ve seen doctors do this. – He’s seen doctors, so he’s a doctor now. – I’m going to squirt you with
this ultrasonic gel, here. Gosh, speaking of great angles… – [Jessica] Look at your doctor angle! Woo, squirt! – [Chris] I will film. – [Jessica] Okay mister,
mister doctor, filmer, doppler handler. – [Chris] Hope I’m getting
in here. (ultrasound noise) – [Jessica] Thump thump? I heard you have to like,
dig into the pelvis, ow! – [Chris] That’s you, that’s yours. – That’s me? – [Chris] Yeah, that’s too slow. – I feel like I should be
runnning this doppler business. I’m probably more of
a doctor than you are. (ultrasound noise) – [Chris] That’s you. – I’ve got a heartbeat!
– Babies are a lot faster. (ultrasound distortion) (wind-like noise) I’m just trying to figure out why you have wind in your uterus. – [Jessica] I’m the ocean. I thought I’d hear a lot
more gurgling in general. I think we need more gel. So far Christopher and I,
neither of us are doctors so far. – [Chris] I’m totally a doctor! – But this is our doctor test, and when we pass this, we can
treat all kinds of people. Pretty sure that’s the baby. – That’s not the baby, that’s you. The baby would be going
(imitates quick heartbeats). You’re going (imitates slow heartbeats). – [Jessica] Oh, I’ve got a sassy beat. (heart beating) – You heard that right? – [Jessica] Yeah, I did! (heart beating) – Wait, I’m going to hold
it up to the microphone. (heart beating) – [Jessica] Alright,
Christopher’s a doctor. – This is so cool that
we can do this at home. (ultrasound pumping) – [Jessica] That was a kick. – No way. It’s in a totally different
spot than it was before. It was tilting it this way before, and now I’ve completely
tilted the other way. (heart beating) (Jessica laughing) – That’s pretty exciting. (Jessica laughing) Let’s see who won the
discontinued post cards: Tammy McGill, Charlotte
Bishop, Mackenzie Rhyno, Kelsey Hoyle, and Divya Kamaraju. Congratulations, you guys won. Today up for grabs is this hat, which you might recognize from one of our Thanksgiving vlogs. It was on my head for most of the day, so there’s probably some sweat in there. So, bonus. All you have to do to win this hat is be subscribed to our channel and write something in
the comments section. Be sure to leave a Twitter handle or some sort of social
media handle in the comment, so that we can contact
you if you win the hat. Also, I want to really quickly say that tomorrow’s giveaway
is gonna be extra special, so you’ll want to tune in for that. So don’t miss it. Hi. (strums guitar) Let’s talk about what we learned today. We learned that if you need
to clean your camera lens, just do an elephant impersonation. We learned that holding a rodent can make all your problems disappear. And finally, we learned that I’m a doctor. Before we close things out here today, I just want to say really quickly that, as I’m recording this,
the elections are going on in the United States of America. And I don’t know what the
outcome’s going to be, but it looks like the stock
market’s doing strange things, and people are worried about
who’s going to get elected… I just want to say that
our family loves you. If you’re watching this
right now, we love you. We respect you. And you matter to us. And I think that as long as we all make an effort to treat each other with love and kindness and understanding the world will be a better place. Thanks for watching everybody. We’ll see you next time. (laughing) (playful music)
