In the News: diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy Treats Some Symptoms of Menopause

– [Female Announcer] Well,
chemotherapy can take an incredible toll on the body, but some of the side effects for women are very difficult to discuss. – [Male Announcer] Just
ahead, we’re looking at a new therapy that’s
helping women restore some normalcy to their lives. – … Breast Cancer Awareness Month right now, and we’re gonna focus on
a breakthrough treatment for women who suffer from a very taboo and sometimes even
relationship destroying symptom of chemotherapy, early
menopause, and as a result of it, vaginal dryness and incontinence. So, normally you could use
an estrogen-based cream to help with these things, but women who go through these cancers, oftentimes cannot use those creams. So now the procedure called the diVa, offered at Dermacare in Virginia Beach, is repairing vaginal tissue with three nearly painless steps for women who cannot use those creams. Here is Carrie, the physician’s assistant, who does the procedure. – It just gave the best overall
comprehensive treatment, and actually remodeled the tissue, instead of just providing a temporary tightening of the tissue. – I’m only 47; I’m not ready
to give up my life yet. It was a very rewarding
type feeling to be able to feel like a whole woman again. – That was Angel Valentine,
and she said that it took her three procedures, almost at a pain level of
two out of a scale of ten. The patient says that she was able to have intercourse after the laser surgery, almost three days later, and immediately felt normal again, proving not only is
there life after cancer, but quality of life after cancer.
