Have a Happy Birth Day

Have a Happy Birth Day

The first time that I saw my new baby you
know it’s not as real for me because it wasn’t in my belly. And so for nine months you’re
anticipating what it’s gonna be like and then when it comes out it’s kind of cliche to say
it’s magical but it’s pretty magical to see. It’s pretty amazing. You’re instantly different
from the way you were and you can tell, like people who haven’t had a kid it’s almost impossible
to understand. I remember when the doctor gave me the baby for the first time and I
held it. And I just get, I can cry again because I can still remember how I held him and staredt
to feed him. Hearing Grace cry for the first time, just looking at her we knew she was
a Grace. I couldn’t believe just how perfect she looked to me. It was just a really incredible
moment to see the babies for the first time after nine months of waiting to see what they
look like. I didn’t get to hold them right then but just seeing them and knowing they’re
right there in front of you is just so cool. It just hits home. It’s real. We knew they
were safe and they were healthy. It just felt really good. It was a good feeling. So August
is our second child and we also have Clementine who is two and we had August at Swedish/Ballard
and they were so nice. They were really calming which I liked. I wasn’t at all like worried
or nervous or stressed out. I was pretty anxious. Having a c-section was a whole new ball of
wax for me. Being at Swedish, it felt like we were at home and everybody was friendly
and just open arms. And it just felt like we were well taken care of. So it kind of
took that stress and that edge away. I was very happy with how quick and efficient everybody
was there. You think that going into childbirth that there’d be a little bit of chaos but
it was really peaceful in there. One of the big reasons why we chose Swedish to begin
with was that we knew that they had a neonatal intensive care unit to take care of any sick
infants that we could potentially have. As it turns out one of our daughters, Kara, actually
needed that care and ended up there. So we’re really glad that we had chosen Swedish. The
people are friendly. They really love what they are doing. I think this is one of the
most important things. It has nothing to do with being in the city or outside of the city.
A great doctor is a great doctor. And then when they’re in a facility that meets their
needs makes it so that they can provide the care that you want then that’s where you should
go. The hospital was really gracious and let us have Sophia in the room right away, right
after I came back into recovery. They let big sister come and see her little sisters
right away. It was a really nice experience. To have gone through this really intense experience
and then the payoff is like sitting right there and you’re just so happy and in love.
You did good. And I think that most things that are difficult are not as hard as you
think they’re gonna because your mind is limitless with things that can go wrong but in reality
it’s a lot easier than that. Even though it is hard and worth every minute of it. Definitely
worth every minute of it. And Swedish was a good place to have a baby. I concur. Swedish
is proud to be a part of more than happy birth days than anywhere else. We invite you to
join us.
